SLOANS LAKE RESIDENCE
Custom Residence (2019)
This highly custom and client-driven architecture is a result of true collaboration. Every aspect of this house is technologically advanced-- from the A/V system to touch-activated custom door hardware to the digitally designed and fabricated sculptural stair, no detail was left to chance. The challenge to a house like this is allowing the user-interface features to impress while providing a clean and powerful architecture that compliments but not over-states its presence.
The architectural massing features a 3-story portion to the East and a 2-story portion to the West, separated by a faceted brick tower (hinting to the faceted metal stair behind it). The Western wing is 2-story to allow for dramatic, sweeping views over Sloan's Lake and the Front Range mountains beyond. From the West roof deck it is possible to see a panorama from Long's Peak to Pike's Peak. This house is rooted in its unique site/view opportunities.
This delicate balance was achieved through the tireless efforts of the general contractor (Old Greenwich Builders) and sub-contracted artisans and tradesmen. Landscape architecture was by R Design, lighting design was by Cullen Lighting Studio, built-in cabinetry by Bulthaup, and interior architecture is by Dixon Design Studio. Note that the project was under the direction of HMH Architecture + Interiors.
